The Pink Artist: A Community Art Doll Project
Breast Cancer news February 21st. 2008, 10:51amSubmitted by Jayne’s Breast Cancer Blog
Monica Magness, owner of the Girl Gone Thread Wild blog has initiated a Community Art Doll Project.
Each artist will contribute a 2″ fabric square. The squares will be put together as one art doll. Go check out Monica’s blog to participate or to find out all of the exciting plans that she has for this art doll (including donating the proceeds to Susan G. Komen for the Cure). But you’ll have to hurry. Squares must be mailed to Monica by March 1.
Check out the parade of squares to see some that have already been sent in. I just signed up today to do a square. Mine will be humble in comparison to the ones that she has featured on her blog, but (shrug) I have thought up a design that means a lot to me so I’m in!
Once I get it done, I’ll post a picture.
Thank you, Deena, for making me aware of this project.

Thanks to the 182 artists who joined in I’m happy to announce that our beautiful pink artist doll appropriately named Love Squared was completed on April 1, 2008 and shipped in to Art Doll Quarterly on the 7th for her magnificent photo shoot. Our doll will be featured in a future issue of ADQ prior to selling to raise money for breast cancer research and awareness. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project with love & patience & participation. I’m so very proud of ALL of you who have donated your time & talents to making this project a huge success. Our doll stands 40″ tall and has 180- 2″ art squares embellishing her grand skirt. Our lady Love Squared stands for HOPE and is a perfect example of how one person can make a real difference. Please stop by for a visit to see our doll in her glory, links found on the sidebar of my blog. Happy Spring, Monica
